Paul Batchelor

Paul Batchelor joined the Board of OPM in 2020 as non-executive director, having previously acted in the same position from 2004 to 2005, then serving as chairman from 2006 to 2013.

Paul began his career as a fellow in the Department of Planning and Statistics in Swaziland before becomming acting chief economist for the Malawi Government, where his work included international trade negotiations for Malawi’s membership of the Lome Convention.

Returning to the UK, Paul joined Coopers & Lybrand in the Economic Studies Group, part of the Management Consulting practice. He became a partner of the firm in 1982 and coordinated the firm's global consulting activities and methodologies from 1989 to 95. He was a member of the global management team responsible for implementing the worldwide merger which created PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Paul is also a non-executive director of Abacus Consulting Technology and Abacus Cambridge Partners which provide technology-based consulting and outsourcing services in Pakistan and the Middle East with a small presence in the UK and USA.

He joined the Board of Crown Agents in 2006 and served as non-executive group chairman from 2007 to 2015 and chair of Crown Agents Bank until 2017. He has also served as a Trustee of WaterAid.
