OPM team was competitively selected by DFID and the World Bank to undertake a feasibility study of setting up a facility to enhance microfinance delivery capacity in sub sahara Africa. In consultation with DFID and the World Bank, a team of 7 OPM consultants finalised the study methodology. The study team undertook desk research to draw lessons from previous projects, visited 10 countries and consulted with stakeholders in Africa and outside to identify key issues and opportunities to be addressed in designing a microfinance capacity building facility for Sub Sahara Africa (May-August 2010). The OPM team also supported the presentation of the emerging findings at Africa Microfinance Network Conference (Ghana, October 2010), discussions with donors and DFID’s online consultation (October-November 2010). A summary of the outcomes of the consultation and the in-depth Feasibility Study can be found on DFID's website via the link below.
