OPM contact

On 13 November 2008, World Savings Banks Institute (WSBI) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation signed a Grant Agreement under the title: “Working with savings banks to double the number of savings accounts for the poor”, which permitted projects to be supported at WSBI member banks. These projects seek to address fundamental obstacles to improved access to safe, accessible and affordable savings accounts in developing countries, and thereby contribute to poverty reduction. The overall aim of the programme is to identify and prepare projects at selected WSBI member banks that will ultimately increase the availability of appropriate, valuable and convenient savings services and to learn lessons from this that can be shared across WSBI members. OPM was contracted by WSBI to work with its partners in India and Pakistan to develop possible projects for approval by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
